Natural Cleaning Products: Vinegar, Baking Soda, Lemon

Looking to clean in a more natural, healthy, and even money saving way? There is good news for you then because there are many household products that you probably already have in your kitchen pantry that do a fine job at cleaning almost anything in your home. So if you have vinegar, baking soda and a lemon then you are ready to get started!

Vinegar is truly amazing. We recently moved and the only thing that got off the soap scum on the shower doors was vinegar! I was really surprised because I had tried so many chemical based cleaning products and spent so much time scrubbing. When I tried the vinegar it was like magic and all I did was pour the vinegar over the glass doors of the shower, waited 5 minutes, wiped it down with a sponge and the doors were suddenly brand new! Vinegar is also great for cleaning hardwood floors. In fact, most experts would agree that a bit of vinegar and warm water to dampen a cloth with is the only safe way to clean a hard wood floor (to prevent damage).

Baking soda- Baking soda is one of the best household cleaners! Some baking soda boxes even come with instructions on them for household cleaning use so take advantage of those great instructions. Here's another tip that once saved me: Use baking soda to get crayon out off of clothes. I once washed a load of laundry with a green crayon which got all over my baby girl's pretty pink pajamas. After the clothes went through the dryer, the crayon had melted on and I had green streaked baby pajamas, and I was so upset to say the least! The only thing that worked to get the stains out was baking soda! That's right, after about 5-6 washings in baking soda, combined with a bit of laundry detergent, the crayon finally came off!

Lemon is another amazing natural cleaner- I like grinding a bit of the lemon peel in the garbage disposal. It cleans out the drain from the lemons natural acid and also leaves a great smell in the kitchen.

The money saving benefits to natural cleaning are great as well.  Besides for making a healthier home for yourself, you will also be helping the environment- all while saving money for yourself.
